Mad Scientist Summer Camp Helps Local Students Explore Opportunities in STEM
Each year, The Creative Coast aims to coordinate a STEM summer camp with Chatham County recreational centers. This summer, The Creative Coast teamed up with Operation One STEM at a Time’s founder Ambria Berksteiner to run two four-day workshops to help students explore concepts in chemistry, biology, and engineering. The workshops, known collectively as Mad Scientist Summer Camp, were held at the Pennsylvania Avenue Resource Center (PARC) and W.W. Law. PARC’s STEM camp ran from June 6-9th and W.W. Law’s camp ran from July 11-14th.

Operation: Changing the World One STEM at a Time has announced the honorees for its Operation: STEMpowered, a Women in STEM Panel and Awards Ceremony. The event will take place on Thursday, March 10, 2022 from 6 pm – 8 pm at Front Porch Improv (210 W. Victory Drive in Savannah). Six women from diverse backgrounds in computer programming, engineering, medicine, and education will be highlighted for their achievements and efforts to support STEM education in the Savannah community and beyond.

The event will take place on Saturday, May 8th, from 10:00am – 11:30a via Zoom. Youth will have the opportunity to learn and build circuits using craft materials provided by Chibitronics. The event is free and open to all 3rd to 8th grade youth in Savannah and surrounding areas. The sign-up deadline is Friday, April 24th.
