Georgia Tech CEISMC Summer On-Campus Programs

Georgia Tech CEISMC Savannah will continue to offer both virtual and in-person programs in summer 2022. Both virtual programs (STEAM Whistle Workshops) and in-person programs will run June 6th – July 22nd. While subject to change, their current COVID-19 policies and procedures are listed via their website at the link below under FAQs and will be emailed to all registered participants the week prior to the program start date.

On-Campus Summer Programs Overview

Every week-long program is uniquely themed to provide a full summer of STEM/STEAM fun and learning for everyone. Additionally, all programs now include a meaningful take-home component so that participants can continue to expand their STEM/STEAM knowledge long after the week is over!
See all the descriptions for programs listed below. All programs will be located at the Georgia Tech Savannah Campus. Each day will run from 8:30 AM – 3:00 PM and all parents/guardians will be invited to a student showcase on Friday starting around 1:30 PM.
At this time, students will need to bring a non-perishable lunch each day, but we are working to provide lunch at least one day a week for each program. More information will be available shortly.

All Program Age Groups

You will see below that some programs are available for multiple age groups. For these programs, all projects and activities will be modified so that they are grade-level appropriate. Additionally, in all programs students will be grouped according to the following grade bands:
  • Rising 3rd – 5th graders
  • Rising 6th – 8th graders
  • Rising 9th – 12th graders

Program Cost

$200-$250 per participant. Please email gtsoutreach@gatech.edu with any questions.

2022 Program Descriptions

Girls Engineering Camp (6th-8th Grades)

In partnership with the Society of Women Engineers, this program is designed to inspire the next generation of female engineers through hands-on projects and presentations led by local industry experts. Each day participants will learn about different fields of engineering from experts that work in them each and every day!

MakerCamp (3rd-5th Grades)

Maker Camp is a week like no other! Each day will have you working on a different hands-on project that you get to keep and take home for continued fun and learning. 5 unique projects over 5 amazing days! Ever built a drone or made wearable electronics? This is your chance to make all that and more.

Artbotics (3rd-5th Grades)

Ever used science or math to create an artistic masterpiece? How about coding to write a song? Artbotics is a program designed to bring your creativity to life and have fun along the way! Each participant will create their own unique and interactive piece of artwork using a combination of traditional art mediums, coding, and robotics. The week will be capped off with a gallery showing for family and friends. This program is being offered in partnership with ArtsNOW.

Energy Unplugged (9th-12th Grades)

In Energy Unplugged, participants will learn about the future of energy with hands-on projects, interactive demos, and learn how STEM can be the engine to a career in the energy field! Participants will learn how solar panels and batteries can work together to provide energy even when the sun is not shining, obtain insights into electric vehicles and talk to researchers who are making electricity cleaner. The program will include segments on how electricity is generated, where it goes, what it costs, its environmental impact, and how it can be brought to more of the world’s 2.5B people with little to none of it. Make It, Move It (6th-12th Grades)

During this week-long summer program, you will learn about supply chain and logistics, explore how things are made, and how they are transported all over the world. Led by a combination of different business and industry representatives, the program will be taught through projects, industry tours, and games that are sure to be fun for everyone!

3D Design & Printing (6th-8th Grades)

Every product from shoes to cell phones to rockets and everything in-between starts as a sketch that gets turned into a 3D model. 3D design software is at the foundation of what designers and engineers around the world use to create the world around us. No matter what you want to design this program will teach you the fundamental skills to bring it to life!

IoT and You (6th-12th Grades)

This advanced program is designed for participants looking to take their knowledge of coding both to the next level and off the screen and into the real world. The Internet of Things (IoT) lets you connect, explore, control, and collect data on the world around you. Led by Dr. Russ Clark, a computer science professor at Georgia Tech, this program includes a full week of hands-on projects and a take-home kit to keep the fun going all year long!

Robotics Camp (3rd-5th Grades)

This program is designed for all beginning roboticist with a creative mindset! During the week we will work with 3 different robotic systems that challenge you to test your creativity, and build simple robots to complete a task and play games. All participants will leave with their very own robot to continue learning and playing with at home!

Interactive Sequential Art (3rd-8th Grades)

Combine your interest in storytelling, drawing, and electronics to bring your comic book ideas to life! Sequential artist, the people behind your favorite comic books, combine their creative talents to bring super heroes to life and this program will put you in their shoes. Each participant will develop their own comic book, and through the use of simple circuits bring the pages to life with interactive lights, switches, and more! This program is being offered in partnership with ArtsNOW.

LEGO Robotics (3rd-5th Grades)

Curious how a robot works? Want to build your own? Explore the world of robotics! Design, build ,and program a robot that solves real-life challenges. In LEGO Robotics, student teams explore and apply physical science and mathematics concepts to program LEGO Spike Prime robots. Clean up parks! Rescue pets from burning buildings! Solve multiple real-world scenarios and showcase your teams robot in daily challenges. Sign up for LEGO Robotics today!
