Helping You Invest in Your Future

The Fiduciary Group

The Fiduciary Group is more than a company. It is a story of the transformation of a second-generation Savannah based business through innovation, technology and design.

The independent investment management firm that launched more than four decades ago under the leadership and foundation of Lee Butler – father – has grown into a world-class investment advisory firm (one of the largest in the region) under the vision of Malcolm Butler – son.

“We have designed and managed investment portfolios for individuals, families, trusts, retirement plans and charitable organizations for almost 40 years,” says Malcolm Butler, President of The Fiduciary Group.

“We are truly a knowledge-based business, as all of our actions are guided by a deep understanding of clients’ needs and objectives and a fundamental understanding of economics, markets, industries and companies.”

In 2006, the company undertook a strategic analysis and design overhaul that revisited and restructured everything from their services offered and clients served, to ways of working, technology platforms, human capital and corporate image. That overhaul produced a fresh, vanguard corporate identity perfected by their in-house graphic design team (populated aptly with graduates of SCAD) and placed a premium on a design approach to client communications.

The upgrade in their investments technology to state-of-the-art portfolio management systems and the Bloomberg Global Data Services put the Group on competitive technology footing with the top financial firms on Wall Street. The Fiduciary Group also renovated their office space, creating a modern, eco-friendly environment for their workplace.

“Just like renovating one of Savannah’s great old buildings, we wanted to hold on to the “bones” and core values that had made our firm great, while at the same time transforming ourselves into a scalable business capable of competing and thriving in the modern world for generations to come,” explains Butler.

As the company has grown and matured, so has the city where it began. So much so that Julia Butler, Chief Operating & Compliance Officer at The Fiduciary Group, recognizes our once sleepy town as the best kept secret in places to do business. Their 2020 goals include growing the “new” generation of investors in Savannah.

“Because of its unique blend of antiquity and modernity, cultural richness, and quality of life, Savannah is attracting and retaining creative, successful people from all over the U.S. and abroad,” she says.

“We see the role we play as a great opportunity to help our community’s constituents conserve and grow their assets so that they will last their lifetime and support their lifestyle and legacy.”
