Why it’s important: Sometimes with cancer, you have to survive survival.
Cancer survivors tell of the “void” that they feel once their cancer treatment is complete. During cancer treatment patients have multiple visits with oncologists, surgeons, nurses and support staff. It is their support system during the fight.
Once the treatment is complete people often feel as if they don’t have access to healthcare, whether it is primary care or psychosocial. They feel the support system is gone.
The funds that we raise from this race will benefit any needs that our survivors may have. We will create programs that help guide patients through their cancer treatment, from diagnosis all the way into survivorship.
