Banana Republic’s 30 Percent Promotion
To Benefit Goodwill’s Job Training Programs

Banana Republic and Goodwill Industries of the Coastal Empire Presents Give Where You Live, a Sweater and Coat Trade-In Promotion

Savannah, Georgia - Banana Republic and Goodwill Industries of the Coastal Empire, Inc. are giving
customers a chance to get ready for the holiday season and make a little room in their closets and hearts atthe same time. Customers who donate their gently-worn sweaters or coats at Banana Republic, located at 121 Broughton Street in Savannah Georgia, from October 16 through October 26 will receive a 30 percent discount on all regular priced Banana Republic merchandise for the same time period - some exclusions apply, see stores for details.

All donated items will be sold in the 14 Goodwill retail stores across the 29 Georgia counties and the 4 South Carolina Low Country counties within Goodwill Industries of the Coastal Empire service region. The proceeds will fund Goodwill job training programs that benefit hundreds of thousands of people each year.

“The tremendous success of last year’s campaign encouraged us to continue this collaboration with Goodwill Industries,” says Chris Nicklo, Vice President of Marketing for Banana Republic. “This year, customers can get a jump start on the giving season by donating sweaters and coats to a great cause and once again join us in giving back to the local communities where we do business.”

"By donating to Goodwill, people are making an investment in their communities. Each donated sweater or coat will help us earn the funding we need to provide vital employment and support services as we assist people with disabilities and other barriers to employment to live independently and become employed.”, says Bill Oakley, President/CEO of Goodwill Industries of the Coastal Empire.

The Banana Republic partnership complements the Goodwill focused theme for 2008-2009 (DONOR) which
honors all Goodwill donors, whether it be DONORS donating clothing, furniture, household items, cars,
computers, etc., DONORS shopping in the 14 Thrift Stores, DONORS volunteering their time, DONORS
making financial contributions, DONORS participating in fundraising efforts, DONORS partnering with Goodwill and DONORS promoting the Goodwill name and mission.

Banana Republic is committed to giving back to local communities across the country. This initiative is part of the company’s broader philanthropic approach, “Give Where You Live”, which encourages customers and employees to help make stronger, more livable communities. Banana Republic plans to expand this program with other partners in the future.

This is the second year that Banana Republic and Goodwill Industries of the Coastal Empire are partnering together. Last year, the partnership generated more than 110,000 sweater donations nationwide and an estimated $438,000 in revenues to support employment programs provided by local Goodwill agencies.

Goodwill Industries of the Coastal Empire, Inc. provides job training, employment services, job placement opportunities and post employment support to strengthen communities and families by training people to become independent, tax-paying members of society. Those services include Second Chance, a community re-entry program for people with acquired brain injury. When someone is having a hard time finding a job – either because of a disability, poverty or lack of experience – Goodwill is there to help.
